Yaru Indigenous Sports Grant Supports 8-Year-Old Motocross Sensation
We’re thrilled to announce the recipient of the 2024 Yaru Indigenous Youth Sports Grant: young Australian motocross sensation, Archie Blanchette!
Meet Archie:
- Age: 8 years old
- Mob: Wakka Wakka, Gayndah QLD
- Location: Coffs Harbour, NSW
At just 8 years old, Archie is already making waves in the junior motocross scene. Following in his family’s tire tracks, he’s been competing in Australian junior motocross racing for only 1.5 years and has already shown exceptional talent, securing multiple wins at state and inter-state races.
This month (September 2024), Archie is set to compete in the Australian Junior Motocross Championship in Western Australia. He’ll be racing in the 50cc class against the best young riders from across the nation, in an event that features over 500 of Australia’s top junior athletes.
About the Grant:
This Yaru Foundation grant aims to empower young Indigenous athletes like Archie to chase their sporting dreams, free from financial barriers. We hope it fosters the development of healthy sporting opportunities, nurtures future sporting leaders, and promotes better health outcomes, inspiring others along the way.
Congratulations, Archie! Enjoy the ride and keep shining!
