Corporate Social Responsibility Winners At The Optus Awards

Last week we attended the prestigious Optus My Business Awards at The Westin in Sydney.

We had been nominated as a Finalist for the Corporate Social Responsibility category and we knew we would be in great company with all of the other businesses who had been put forward for the award.

We couldn’t believe it when Yaru Water was called up on stage as the Winner of the award. What an absolute honour.

Yaru Water is a social enterprise and we had been nominated for our work we do through the Yaru Foundation. A not for profit initiative we set up in 2016. But it didn’t start in 2016…

Since our launch in 2011, Yaru Water has been committed to sharing an important cultural message, closing the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, whilst supporting Indigenous organisations and community projects.

In 2016 we decided to set up a dedicated not for profit Foundation that enabled us to provide our skills, time, and resources to further increase our impact.

Through the purchase of Yaru Water and with kind donations, grants, and corporate support, the Yaru Foundation allows us to establish vital projects in Indigenous communities throughout Australia. We have clear objectives that are at the heart of the Foundation:

  • Health improvements
  • Cultural Awareness
  • Closing the gap

Some of the most recent Foundation’s projects include safe, clean, drinking water for remote Indigenous communities and trauma therapy for young Indigenous children who have been affected by severe trauma.

There are some incredible businesses in Australia doing great things for communities and our planet. We are so very proud to be part of such an inspirational movement to use business for change.

We can’t thank you (our customers) enough for your support. By purchasing Yaru you are really helping to create a ripple effect of positive change throughout our country.
